As you may know, Peterborough City Council is giving up ownership of their Community Centres. Bretton Parish Council has been offered a short-term tenancy of the Pyramid Community Centre with a view to taking it on permanently if we can run it successfully. A number of residents have shown an interest in joining a new operating committee or in helping to run the Community Centre. A meeting was held on the 16th January 2017 with a view to forming a new management team run by volunteers from the Community. This will be a Charity so that funding streams, we hope, will be available to them for funding work that is needed to be undertaken at the Centre. We are pleased to say at the meeting the foundation for this new Charity was formed and we have another meeting on Monday 20th February 2017 at the Pyramid Community Centre starting at 6.30 p.m. If you would like to be a part of the Charity then please come along you will be most welcome.

Our grateful thanks must go to the outgoing committee made up of various members over the years, for all the work and dedication they have shown over the years in running the Centre for the benefit of the Bretton residents. The outgoing committee are made up of Peggy Ayres, John Ayres, Paul Platten, Joanne Platten and Marina Clarke.

We need to know what you would like to find in your Community Centre – and if you are willing to help or know someone who would be interested in using the Centre.
This could include classes in slimming, exercise and fitness or languages, youth clubs, mother and toddler groups, U3A groups, dance and theatre groups, social groups, occasional use of meeting rooms by local businesses, birthday parties, wedding receptions – if you can think of it, we can try to accommodate you!

There is a large hall with a kitchen attached, an entry hall suitable for coffee mornings, and three other rooms of varying sizes suitable for smaller groups or meetings. Additionally there is also a garden – we hope to find volunteer gardeners to improve and upkeep the grounds surrounding the building.

The hire rates are reasonable and comparable to other local Community Centres. Discounted rates are available for regular users. Any existing users will have their bookings honoured.
Until we have a new committee up and running, please contact the Parish Clerk, Bernard Champness , with any enquiries or ideas on 01733 263019 or email
